So, we decided it was in everyone's best interests not to attempt to be friends. That's okay.

I left my phone at home today... progress, right? Left the house for two hours with no chance of hearing from him.

Cut my study session short in the beautiful outdoor patio at the coffee shop, probably 70+ degree gorgeous weather in February so that I could go home and check my voice mail, email and chat for messages that I know deep down aren't coming.

How long does it take hope to die? A week, a month, a year? Somewhere in between...? I feel incredibly weak and sad.

When exactly did it become fashionable and chic for huge, well paid, A-list celebrities to do Proactiv infomercials. The celebrity head count, last time I saw one was:

Vanessa Williams (I know, not A-list. It gets better)
Stephanie Seymour (yes, over the hill... keep going)
Elle Macpherson (still hot)
Jessica Simpson (Ok, that's a little better, right?)
P. Diddy (triumphing over acne is ghetto fabulous)
Kelly Clarkson (YES she's A-list)
Paulina Rubio (She's HUGE in the Spanish-speaking world)
and finally...

LINDSAY LOHAN.
I heard Diddy got over 2 million bucks to hawk this crap on TV, so I guess Lohan's coke binges and frequent emergency hospitalizations as a result of above mentioned coke binges are starting to take a toll on her bank account.

Ok, I'm done being bitchy.

Recall how we have an international symbol for "he's a wild man, but he makes a good point"?

After meeting with my study group, I have been made aware of a need for an international symbol for "he's a dick, but he makes a good point"

Thoughts?

I'm mildly enchanted with my new discovery of brown eye makeup

Gad I really do not want to write an essay in German. I really don't. Perhaps I shall take more photos...

coolest. eyecolor. evar. I had a boyfriend tell me once that my eyes were "scary-blue."

Arrgh.

I am also, for the first time in a few years, contemplating another tattoo. Something that visually illustrates my cyborg nature... I wish that neurons and aluminum atoms looked more similar in the graphic representations I've found, but maybe a skilled artist could find a way of combining them so that the result wasn't utterly incoherent.

Current Goal:
By Fall 2008, I will be embarking on a course of study that will result in a PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science. Next year, if I can afford it, I'm hoping to do a year of post-bac graduate women's studies work at UO while I figure out the whole grad school application process.

Tonight, I found out that I have fratboy neighbors named Troy and Ryan. They were very friendly and came down to ask me and Erin to a beer and pool party... and all I could think is, what could we possibly have in common? Seriously. What. But, contrary to my nature, I declined politely.

Oh, and I've decided to come to Chicago for a 5 day weekend in April. IF YOU'RE IN JAIL BREAK OUT!!!!!!!

Speaking of breaking out of jail, my Gad I heart the beautiful men of Prison Break. Curse the lag time between now and DVD release time. Come spring I plan on visually consuming Wentworth Miller for 2-3 straight days.

Ok dammit it's 1am. Goodnight.

My vacation with Roger to Memphis and Nashville ended up being almost entirely centered around death and blues. We visited:
Graceland (where Elvis is buried)
The Hermitage (where Andrew and Rachel Jackson are buried)
Confederate graveyards filled with numbered graves
The Lorraine Motel (where Dr. King was shot)
The site where the Battle of Nashville took place (war of 1812)

We didn't really intend for it to work out that way... but somehow nearly every sightseeing thing we did ended up being visiting a place where someone died or was buried. Seeing the Lorraine Motel brought me to tears.

Also: I have met someone who proudly voted for George Wallace during his presidential bid in the... 1960's (right? historians please correct me if that's wrong). You heard that right. Roger's uncle voted for the "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" candidate WHILE he was still crazy and ranting against the "nigger race" (i.e. BEFORE he became born again in the 1980's). WHAT THE FUCK.

The damn South never ceases to bewilder me, in ways that are both good and very very upsetting sometimes.

Oh and I finally got to go to six flags too.
